No cost charger and installation for sites in priority communities; includes two years of networking and software fees
Multifamily properties with 5 to 49 units, or deed-restricted affordable multifamily of any size. Small businesses with 100 or fewer employees and average annual gross receipts of $16 million or less. Sites in PG&E-designated priority communities qualify for fully covered installation.

WeaveGrid software automatically schedules a driver's home charging during the lowest-cost, lowest-demand hours to hit a target battery level by their ready-by time. Driver plugs in nightly and the program handles the rest.

PG&E offers two EV-specific time-of-use rate plans. EV2-A is the single-meter option that most residential EV owners use; EV-B requires a dedicated second meter wired to the charger. Both have the same 4pm to 9pm peak window every day, with the lowest rates from midnight to 3pm. Overnight charging on either plan is substantially cheaper than charging on a standard residential rate, though daytime non-EV electricity use during the peak window costs more than on a non-EV rate.
The residential Level 2 charger rebate of up to $500 stacks with whichever EV TOU plan the customer chooses; the Empower EV program for households at or below 400 percent of the federal poverty level bundles a free Level 2 charger with up to $2,000 in panel-upgrade funding and auto-enrolls participants on EV2-A. On the commercial side, the EV Charge 2 (Multifamily Housing and Small Business) program covers utility-side make-ready and, in PG&E-designated priority communities, the charger and installation as well; the EV Fleet program is approaching maximum enrollment with a June 30, 2026 waitlist deadline. The EV Charge Manager managed-charging program with WeaveGrid pays a $75 Tango gift card on enrollment plus an ongoing participation incentive.
PG&E's northern and central California footprint spans wildfire-prone foothills where Public Safety Power Shutoffs can interrupt charging during high-risk weather. Customers planning long overnight charging windows should keep at least one fallback option (a public DC fast charger or workplace Level 2) outside the shutoff zones. The territory's high baseline residential electric rates also make overnight TOU shifting unusually valuable compared to flatter-rate regions.
